Abstract
Professional competencies have long been used as a framework of focus on the behaviors that matter most to an organization’s drive to success. Over the past three decades, formal investigations have examined the competencies attributed to effective online instruction as reported in the literature. As online education has emerged as a viable means by which instruction can be delivered, and more recently propelled as a necessary substitute for face to face instruction in the pandemic era, a renewed consideration for the validation of those competencies that truly promote positive outcomes in online course facilitation into the future. This presentation examines the results of a recent follow up validation of the characteristics demonstrated by successful online instructors. The research question for the study considered the possibility of whether a panel of qualified online faculty and students could arrive at a consensus in the ranking of the teaching competencies deem as most important.
